Narrowing Down the Bucket List in Paris

I had never been to Paris before last week. Yes, people often find that a bit shocking, giving how much travel I’ve done. For many people (and these people, I think, are mostly women) Paris is THE travel destination. It’s the top of the list for many, a bucket list destination that the mere act of bringing someone to is in and of itself a kind of declaration of love.

I’m not that romantic. I had never been dying to see Paris. I didn’t really get the fascination.  But I went there last month. And now, I get it.

Narrowing Down the Bucket List in Paris

I hate to speak in absolutes, but Paris has got to be the most beautiful city in the world. And this was an overwhelming feeling that I had walking around in December, I can’t even imagine what it must be like in the summer. I was only there for two days, but I got in as much as I could, including the Catacombs, (unbelievably creepy, but kind of beautiful in its own gothic and macabre way) Notre Dame, The Louvre (the building itself might be the most impressive thing there), the Eiffel Tower (don’t even bother seeing it during the day, wait till night), the Champs Elysees, I could go on and on.

But most importantly, when I wasn’t site-seeing I was eating. And it was heaven. The food is just so much better there, especially compared to England.

Full on duck, crème brulee and Bordeaux, I was ready to wander the streets and soak up every part of the French culture

. The architecture, the fashion, the art, the mimes. I didn’t get to see it all, but I’ll be back and I’ll try a different part of Paris when I go next time, which I really hope is soon. (I would like to see Paris in the spring…see? It’s made a romantic out of me).
