Toronto Reuinion in Ontario

Let me get this out of the way first before I introduce you to lovely Ontario, Canada

. As an American, I don’t think we dislike Canadians like many think we do. Rather, we have very little opinion about Canadians because they don’t have much of an impact in our lives Mexico does for instance. So most of what I knew before visiting Canada was that Toronto is the most populous city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario.

A few years ago close right after Christmas I met my friend who traveled across the world from Bangladesh in Toronto, Ontario.

Besides walking around downtown an checking out the many shops of downtown Toronto we made a priority to check out the nightlife. The majority of nightlife in Toronto

is around the fashion district on Queen Street West. That’s where you will find many of the clubs and bars filled with young students and others with young professionals. We fit in with neither.

Out of all the clubs open that night we chose one with a somewhat long line with a decent amount of women. I am used to having to wait in long lines in some of the nicer cities around the world so I was surprised when it didn’t take long for us to pass the red rope.

Inside, something was off.

We continued walking around the massive club with its small little rooms. But something felt different. Men were dancing together and removing their shirts.  Only when a drag-queen began a performance did we acknowledge that we had entered a gay club.

While we felt out of our element we thoroughly enjoyed the scene. We took some seats and watched.

Only in Toronto does the night end with a soggy beef shwarma. Oh, and maybe a million other cities from London to Tel Aviv.
